Dovje

Dovje, with its roots in centuries-old alpine tradition, is one of Slovenia’s sunniest and most charming villages. Its history is closely tied to farming, mountaineering, and the rhythms of rural life in the Upper Sava Valley. The village’s location on a sunny terrace at 703 meters elevation provides sweeping views of the Julian Alps, including the majestic Triglav, Slovenia’s highest peak. The best time to visit Dovje is from June to September, when the weather is warm and ideal for hiking, cycling, and exploring the alpine valleys. Spring and autumn offer mild temperatures, blooming meadows, and fewer crowds, while winter is perfect for snow sports and cozy retreats.
