Kolpa

The Kolpa River, known as Kupa in Croatian, is one of Slovenia’s most beloved natural treasures. Stretching for 297 kilometers, with 118 kilometers forming the border between Slovenia and Croatia, the Kolpa meanders through the heart of the Bela Krajina region. The best time to visit Kolpa is from late spring to early autumn, when the weather is warm and the river is at its most inviting. May, June, and September offer pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds, while July and August are peak months for swimming and water sports. Autumn brings colorful foliage and harvest festivals, adding a special charm to the region. Regardless of the season, Kolpa’s combination of natural beauty, outdoor activities, and cultural richness ensures a memorable and restorative experience for every visitor.
