Via Ferrata in Mojstrana is a thrilling way to experience the dramatic landscapes of the Julian Alps, offering both adventure and breathtaking views just above the charming village of Mojstrana. This popular climbing attraction features two protected routes up the rocky slopes of Grančišče, making it accessible to a range of skill levels.
The first route, Aljaž’s path, is 300 meters long and rated as difficulty B, making it ideal for beginners or families looking to try their first via ferrata. The second route, the path of the Mojstrana Squirrels, is slightly shorter at 250 meters but more challenging (C/D), perfect for those with some climbing experience. Both routes are equipped with steel cables, rungs, and safety anchors, ensuring a secure and enjoyable ascent.
At the summit, climbers are rewarded with panoramic views of the Julian Alps, the Karavanke Mountains, and the picturesque valley below. The routes are open from April 1 to October 31, with the best conditions during the summer and early autumn. Parking is conveniently available at the Slovenian Alpine Museum, which is also a great place to learn more about the region’s mountaineering history.
