Slap Pericnik

Slap Peričnik, or Peričnik Waterfall, is one of the most iconic natural sights in Triglav National Park, near the village of Mojstrana. Nestled in the glacially carved Vrata Valley, the waterfall is renowned for its dramatic two-tiered cascade: the lower falls plunge 52 meters, while the upper falls drop a further 16 meters. The setting is especially enchanting in summer, when the spray from the water cools the air and creates rainbows in the sunlight.

Visitors typically begin their journey at Koča pri Peričniku, a mountain hut that serves as the trailhead for a 1.1 km circular hike. The trail, which takes about 45 minutes to an hour to complete, is moderately steep and best tackled with sturdy footwear. Along the route, hikers are treated to forested paths, views of both waterfalls, and the unique opportunity to walk behind the curtain of water at the lower falls—a refreshing experience, particularly on warm days.

The area is accessible by public transport, and there is free parking nearby, though parking directly at the waterfall is not permitted. The trail is part of the larger Triglav Bistrica Trail, making it a rewarding stop for those exploring the region’s alpine landscapes.
