Ojstrica is one of the three classic viewpoints above Lake Bled, together with Mala Osojnica and Straža, and it is the easiest of them to reach. The hill rises to about 611 metres, roughly 130 metres above the water, and its name is usually explained as meaning a sharp or pointed peak, which suits the steep little summit. It stands on the southern side of the lake, and from its top the whole scene that has made Bled famous opens out below: the blue-green lake, the island with its pilgrimage church, and Bled Castle on its cliff on the far shore.

The walk to the top is short. A marked path starts near the Zaka campsite on the lake's western shore and climbs through beech and spruce woods, with a few steep stretches and some roots and loose stones. Most people need about twenty minutes to half an hour, depending on pace and weather, and the path is manageable for most walkers with ordinary hiking shoes. It can be slippery after rain, and the last part is steeper than the lower path, so children need some attention. Because the walk is brief, it fits easily into a day of sightseeing in Bled and is a good first viewpoint for those who are not used to mountain walking.

At the top there is a bench and a small clearing with the view. Looking across the lake you can see the long ridge of the Karavanke and the shape of Stol in the distance to the north, and on a clear day the high summits of the Julian Alps appear to the west and south. The light changes the scene throughout the day, and many people come for sunrise or sunset, when the colours on the water and the mountains are at their best. The viewpoint is popular, and in mid-morning in high season it can feel crowded, so early or late visits are usually more relaxed.

The other viewpoints make a natural circuit. Mala Osojnica, on the north shore, is the best-known and gives the postcard view of the island with the Alps behind it, while Straža, above the town, offers a different angle and a mountain-coaster ride in summer. The Lake Loop walk around the shore, the fijaker horse carriage rides and the swimming spots along the shore are the other classic ways to enjoy the lake.

Ojstrica suits walkers of all ages who want an easy climb and a big reward, photographers and anyone who wants a quiet hour above the crowds. The viewpoint can be reached year-round, though winter ice on the path calls for care. Bring water and a layer, since the top can be breezy.
