Koseč Gorge

Koseč Gorge, tucked away in the scenic Soča Valley near Kobarid, offers a rewarding escape for hikers and nature lovers. The circular trail begins in the quiet village of Koseč, just above Drežnica, and is well-marked for easy navigation. At about 3.3 kilometers in length, the hike takes most visitors two to three hours to complete and is considered of medium difficulty, making it suitable for active travelers and families with older children.

The route leads first past the charming Church of Sv. Just, whose construction features tufa stone sourced from local karst springs. From there, the trail follows the Stopnik stream, revealing a series of waterfalls and the dramatic limestone-carved Koseč gorges, which plunge up to 60 meters deep. The Brsnik stream adds to the landscape’s wild character with its steep gradients and rushing rapids. Along the way, hikers are treated to views of crystal-clear pools, mossy rocks, and lush forest—a setting that feels both peaceful and untamed.
