Planica wind tunnel
Indoor wind tunnel simulating flight up to 250 km/h
The Planica wind tunnel, located at the Planica Nordic Centre in Slovenia, offers visitors the exhilarating sensation of flight in a safe and controlled environment. Designed in collaboration with leading engineers and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the wind tunnel generates powerful air currents—reaching speeds up to 250 km/h—that allow participants to “fly” while lying on an air mattress. This unique attraction fulfills the age-old human dream of soaring through the air, making it a standout experience for both thrill-seekers and families.
Suitable for anyone aged 8 and older, the wind tunnel is accessible to first-timers, recreational skydivers, and even professional athletes. No prior experience is required, and all necessary equipment—including a helmet, earplugs, and flight suit—is provided. The experience lasts about an hour, including a briefing on flying techniques and safety, followed by two or three one-minute flight sessions per participant.
Advance booking is required, and the friendly staff ensures that each guest feels comfortable and secure throughout the process. The wind tunnel is also available for group bookings, making it a fun option for team-building events or family outings.
Whether you’re curious about the science of flight or simply looking for a memorable activity in the heart of the Julian Alps, the Planica wind tunnel offers a truly original way to experience the thrill of flying—no wings required.
