Thermana Laško Spa

Thermana Laško is the spa complex of Laško, a small town in the Savinja valley in eastern Slovenia, set between wooded hills and known across the country for both its thermal water and its beer. The spa tradition here goes back to the middle of the nineteenth century, when the town's warm springs were first developed for bathing, and the historic Hotel Zdravilišče Laško still welcomes guests more than a century and a half later. A modern hotel with a large glass dome, Hotel Thermana Park Laško, was added later and stands alongside it.

The water comes from natural springs with mild warmth and is used for bathing and for health programmes. The Thermal Center is the main attraction for day visitors, with a variety of indoor and outdoor pools, whirlpools and water features under the dome, while the Sauna Center offers Finnish and other saunas along with relaxation rooms. The town has a second claim to fame in the Pivovarna Laško, the brewery whose beer is among the best known in Slovenia and whose history goes back to the first half of the nineteenth century. The annual beer and flower festival fills the town with music and visitors in summer, so a spa visit can be combined with a taste of local culture.

In summer the outdoor pools are popular, while in winter the warm water makes a pleasant contrast with the cold air.
