Museum of Post and Telecommunications

The Museum of Post and Telecommunications is housed in the castle at Polhov Gradec, a village in the hills west of Ljubljana, at the foot of the Polhov Gradec Dolomites. The collection tells the story of how messages moved through Slovenian lands, from the days of horse-drawn mail coaches to the age of telephone exchanges and electronic networks. The displays follow the development of the postal service. Carniola lay on important routes between Vienna, Ljubljana and the Adriatic, and mail coaches, post offices and postal officials were part of the landscape for centuries.
