Grumble bear trail

The Grumble Bear Trail in Bohinjska Bela offers a family-friendly adventure rooted in local folklore. Starting and ending at the village center, just in front of the local shop, this circular route is clearly marked with green boards featuring bear paw prints. The walk typically takes between one and two hours to complete, making it suitable for families with children or anyone interested in a leisurely exploration of the area.

Inspired by the story of a bear known as Grumble Bear, who once wandered into the village, the trail invites visitors to follow in his footsteps. Along the way, there are fourteen stops, each with a signboard presenting a task or challenge that encourages participants to engage with the surrounding nature. These activities highlight the area’s biodiversity, including over thirty different tree species and a variety of local flowers. At each stop, visitors collect a letter, which together form a final message by the end of the trail.

A highlight of the experience is the chance to look into a real bear den, offering a glimpse into the animal’s natural habitat. The trail also encourages exploration of Bohinjska Bela’s cultural and natural sights, such as the Sava Bohinjka River and local churches.
