Bike Park Poseka

Bike Park Poseka is a mountain biking park on the slopes above Ravne na Koroškem, a small industrial town in the Meža valley in northern Slovenia, close to the Austrian border. The area lies within the UNESCO Global Geopark of Karavanke/Karawanken, and the hills around the town are forested and rolling, with open meadows on the upper slopes. It was created by local enthusiasts who wanted to give riders a place to practise downhill and flow riding without a long drive to the Alps, and it has become an important part of the town's outdoor offer.

A bike park differs from an ordinary trail network because it is designed for downhill riding, with built trails that include berms, jumps, drops and technical sections and are graded so riders can choose their level. At Poseka the trails run down through meadows and light forest, with options ranging from relaxed beginner lines to more demanding descents with features that suit confident riders. The trails are maintained by a volunteer team, which gives the park a friendly, rider-focused atmosphere, and it is common to meet local riders at the trailheads who can offer tips and recommendations.

One of the park's distinguishing features is the lift, which carries riders and bikes uphill so that more time can be spent descending. The system used here is a pulled-lift type that is simple and efficient, and riders who prefer to climb can use an uphill track outside lift hours. Check the operating days, hours and prices before travelling, because bike parks often run on limited schedules and depend on weather. Helmets, gloves and protective gear are essential, and renting a suitable bike is possible in some places if you do not have your own, so ask the operator.

Ravne na Koroškem offers other things to do around a day in the saddle.
