SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING There are four main ski resorts in Slovenia - these are Krvavec (near Ljubljana), Rogla (in the north east), Kranjska Gora and Vogel (both in the north west of Slovenia). | |
| Krvavec is around a 30min drive north of Ljubljana and usually has natural snow from December until early March, however snow machines extend the season and top up the runs to keep them fully operational. Lifts and gondolas are inexpensive. |  |

Rogla is located in the north east of Slovenia, approximately half way between Maribor and Celje in the Pohorje Massif mountain range. It has been rated as one of the best ski and snowboard resorts in the country and is highly recommended for intermediate level skiers. Kranjska Gora in the north west of Slovenia is not far from both the Italian and Austrian borders. It is one of Slovenia's most popular ski resorts and is similarly popular with mountain-bikers through the summer months. Slopes here are suitable for beginners as well as for more experienced skiers although the snow season here may be shorter due to the ski station's low altitude (in comparison to the other main ski resorts). |

Vogel in the north west of Slovenia and part of the Triglav National Park area, looms high over Lake Bohinj and it's from here that you'll get one of the most breathtaking views of both the lake and the Julian Alps. It is also top among Slovenian ski resorts for reliability of snowfall with the season usually extending from December through to early May. |
