TRAVEL

Slovenia is located between Austria, Italy, Croatia and Hungary and can be easily accessed by road, rail or plane.

Being in such a central location, conferences are often held in Ljubljana which can result in a shortage of hotel rooms in peak season so it is always advisable to book ahead if you can. During the summer months many people from Austria, Germany and Italy travel by car through the country to destinations further south such as Croatia and this can cause some delays on border crossings and motorways.

Day trips to the bordering countries are easy from Slovenia. With Ljubljana as a base, heading north into Austria you can reach Graz by car in two hours, while Klagenfurt is just an hour and a half away. If you're heading to Croatia, Zagreb is just a two hour drive from Ljubljana, while the Istrian coast can also be reached in two hours. If Italy is your destination then Trieste is only one hour's drive from Ljubljana, while Venice can be reached within two to two and a half hours.
