LAKES AND MOUNTAINS IN SLOVENIA
|
Lake Bled
Lake Bled is one of Slovenia's most popular tourist destinations. With it's island church and spectacular fairytale castle it's easy to see it's appeal. If you have several hours to spare, it is possible to walk all the way around the lake (around 7km). There is also a walk at the west end of the lake up into low hills which gives a superb eagle's eye view.

Don't miss the local speciality cake - the 'Kremna Rezina' at the Park Hotel where you can sit on the terrace looking out over the lake.

Bled castle is Slovenia's oldest castle and is perched on a clifftop above the lake. The entrance fee is around 5 Euros for adults but is well worth it if only to take in the stunning panoramic views of the lake and nearby Julian Alps.

Lake Bohinj
Lake Bohinj is approximately 30km west of Lake Bled. With it's stunning moutainous backdrop and crystal clear waters it is well worth
taking the time to visit. It is more serene and incredibly picturesque but for some reason less visited than Bled.
